I find it so annoying when someone says, ‘they are sooo comfortable’, when I know ‘they’ are not.

Why do we do that?

I am not going to lie, this outfit is not sooo comfortable. It’s just hot.

Helmut Lang skinny stretch leather pants.

Reed Krakoff sweater.

Kain tank, maybe even a little untucked.

All of the above is, actually, comfortable.

It’s these boots that aren’t, Christian Louboutin suede ankle booties.

And the bag, I love this bag, Chloe Marcie.

The boots and bag don’t have to match.

And you don’t always have to be comfortable.

So, as we know, it’s January..

January can be slightly uninspiring so it’s best to keep it simple.

Course, I prefer every outfit be easy..

This is a good year,2012. I can already tell.

Can we discuss sweaters? How often are you wearing sweaters these days?.. A lot, yes?

I love winter sweaters. I love being warm, and soft. A good sweater is your whole outfit.

Great sweater, denim and boots. That’s it. I think I have worn this outfit everyday over the break (which has been excellent, and yours?)

I bought a few, I can’t help it. I love Top Shop at The Bay. I bought this one.

Just kidding, it’s unlikely that I would ever wear orange like that.. I should though.. I like it.

Also? Essential black cardigan, I bought this at The Room.

I realize that most of the sweaters you are seeing are likely chunky oversize knits with large and sometimes garish patterns, like this..

And I like these too, I own a few. I just don’t wear them very often.

The other thing to note is that everything is on sale right now. Everything. It’s a good time to pick up some sweaters.

For the mamas..

I know you rarely, if ever, feel hot anymore.

Actually, that’s not true, I have never been so hot as I have been since Lucy was born. It’s always 100 F no matter where I am.

To be a mama and to feel stylish though, that’s another thing.

Thankfully, I have a solution.

T-shirt, Skinnies and a Blazer. See? Miranda Kerr was wearing it just the other day.

It’s doubtful that I would be wearing heels though.. I have taken to wearing Fit Flops, which is another matter all together.  One worthy of it’s own blog.

Recently I have begun to fully appreciate the costume jewelry, or fashion jewelry.

For years I have said wear your real pieces. Don’t buy fake.

I stand by the don’t buy fake advice, but I am changing my mind on how to wear fashion jewelry.

So, consider this necklace with with a grey t-shirt and skinny black jeans. Tom Binns.

I mean, you barely need to wear anything. Or you could wear your most boring dress with these, it doesn’t matter, it’s all about the necklace.

It’s this whole new world. Forget about the diamond tennis bracelet. Everyone has them, and they are sooo boring. Rather than buying new dresses this season, I am buying new jewelry .
